Lake Norman believes in several core principles that only Club ball can provide:
The game teaches the game
The game of volleyball is taught through repetition. For example, the LNVB 16s team last year competed in 142 games and practiced over 120 hours in the 6 months of club season. The players who stepped on the court for high school tryouts from club ball have that extra experience, and often a more advanced skill set as a result. Club season allows time to train hard and truly refine skills, unlike school ball with multiple games in one week without time to debrief and improve.
The more coaches, the better
LNVB believes that each team should have a head and assistant coach. Each are paired based on complimentary strengths to provide a wellrounded approach to the game. Also, LNVB provides opportunities for coaches of other teams within the club to run practice and trainings to get instructions, tips, and tricks from the entire coaching staff. We also strive to attend out of region tournaments as a club so that our presence and support is larger than one team.
Ability to play at a higher level
Each player in the club is there to play at a higher level than high school ball. Players learn and execute skills that only advanced teams can perform. The tournaments are selected to stretch the girls so that the players have the opportunity to play against some of the best players in the state, region and country. The players get to compete with committed athletes from other schools and develop a deeper sports network. Most importantly, club volleyball develops a love and appreciation for the game.
