What different teams are offered?
USAV regulates teams by age. Below is the 2011-2012 definition:

18 and Under Division:
Players who were born on or after September 1, 1993 or Players who were born on or after September 1, 1992 and a high school student in the twelfth (12th) grade or below during some part of the current academic year.
17 and Under Division:
Players who were born on or after September 1, 1994
16 and Under Division:
Players who were born on or after September 1, 1995
15 and Under Division:
Players who were born on or after September 1, 1996
14 and Under Division:
Players who were born on or after September 1, 1997
13 and Under Division:
Players who were born on or after September 1, 1998
12 and Under Division:
Players who were born on or after September 1, 1999

Lake Norman expects to have several teams at each age group, but that will be dictated by tryout numbers. Additionally, the teams will be broken into 'Travel' (Black) and 'Regional' (Red and White) teams.

Travel Teams – This is the highest level of play offered at the club. These teams are intended to travel to competitions with the hopes of earning the Carolina Regional bid and represent the Region at the National competition. These teams will have very demanding and respectable coaches who expect the highest level of commitment to the team. Due to the extensive travel, these players also incur the most expense. Usually, there is only 1 Travel team per age group (Black).
Regional Teams – Regional teams compete mainly within the North and South Carolina regions. The main difference will be the tournament and travel schedules, but practices will still be several nights a week and tournaments could still be several hours away. LNVB looks to offers 2 Regional teams per age group (Red and White), depending on tryout numbers and coaches.
Developmental Teams – These teams will be practice-minded teams and will only compete in mini-tournaments and local scrimmages. The intentions of this team is for those who are interested in learning the sport, but perhaps have not developed club-level skills yet or cannot fully give the time commitment needed for club. These teams will give the players the necessary coaching and practice time to really develop their game.

Tryouts will be conducted for both the Travel and Regional teams. LNVB offers two sessions for each age group and each session will be focused heavily on skillswork and in-game situations. Each court will have trained coaches running drills and providing input into the decisions for the team. It is our best intention to make up players with teams in which they will be most successful. That being said, players who excel in their age have the opportunity to play with an older team, but one should initially plan to tryout within their appropriate age division.
