What is club volleyball?
Club volleyball is an additional avenue for middle and high school players to compete and further their skills after the school seasons have concluded. Much like any year-round sport, club volleyball attracts and trains many of the highest-skilled players in their age group, with the intention of getting players to compete at the very top of the high school, and even the collegiate level.
Who is the organizing body?
Lake Norman Volleyball Club is one of over 70 clubs in North Carolina that form the Juniors division of the Carolina Region under USA Volleyball. USAV also oversees and regulates the 2008 gold medalists, US Men's National team, and 2008 silver medalist US Women's National team as well as Beach and Disabled teams. Each club competes in tournament-based competitions sanctioned by these two bodies. Additionally, LNVB has attended regional and national level competitions within the Amateur Athletic Association (AAU) and Junior Volleyball Directors Association (JVDA).
How long is the season?
As regulated by the Region, tryouts must follow the North Carolina High School State Finals match, typically falling the first week of November. The USAV Carolina Region tournament season starts in January and continues until April, with tournaments twice a month during that time. The USAV Nationals are conducted in July.
Additionally, the JVDA and AAU main tournament circuit starts in March and ending in June with their own Nationals.
