Coach Jenn Knight

2011-2012 Team:

Background
Jennifer grew up in Madison, North Carolina and started playing volleyball in 7th grade. She played at McMichael High School under state known Coach Marty Woods. After recovering from a knee injury her collegiate freshman year, she continued to play competitively at NC State on club teams for 4 years.
Over the next eleven years, Jennifer worked as process chemical engineer in Pennsylvania, Texas, and Louisiana. She also found time to continue playing volleyball on co-ed and women’s club teams in all locations, primarily in Houston, TX. Jennifer became a certified USVA and NFHS referee to work during high school games in Houston and New Orleans. Hurricane Katrina stopped Jennifer’s playing days as she worked through the recovery at work. She returned to North Carolina two years ago and was an assistant coach last year at LNVB and is now coaching JV volleyball at Bishop McGuinness High School.

Philosophy
Jennifer’s philosophy is based on her experiences from her former coach Marty Woods and players she has played with in the past. One of the first things she looks for is athletes who have a love for the game of volleyball and the motivation to work hard at developing their fundamentals and skills. A volleyball athlete is ready to continuously work hard, is ready to listen, and is a team player. She also stresses that a positive attitude is a must and volleyball is a fun game.
