Coach Casey Harris Cornett

Casey Cornett enters her second season with LNVB and her third season with the UNC-Charlotte 49ers and fourth overall season as a coach this fall.

Casey Harris Cornett came to UNC-Charlotte after spending her first collegiate coaching season, the 2008 campaign, at nearby High Point University. The Panthers enjoyed a school-record 26-7 mark and the highest RPI ranking in school history. They were also able to put together a record 11-match win streak and set the school mark with 13 conference wins, winning the school's first regular-season volleyball title in 2008.

Prior to her season at HPU, she coached for three seasons in the club ranks coaching at Club Idaho North West. Originally from Hayden, Idaho, Cornett coached the 18-and-under team in 2008, the 17-and-under team in 2007 and led the 16-and-under team in 2006 while at Idaho North West.

Additionally, Cornett coached the junior varsity team at the Coeur d'Alene Charter Academy along with mentoring the middle school program.

Cornett graduated from Wheeling Jesuit University in 2006 with a Bachelor's degree in Biology. A four-year starter at middle blocker for WJU from 2000-03, Cornett played for former HPU and Cardinals head coach Chad Esposito in 2000. During her playing days at Wheeling Jesuit, she was named the WVIAC Tournament MVP in 2002. In 2003, she earned WVIAC All- Conference second team honors.

In her four years, the Cardinals amassed a record of 139-32 and went 58-2 in conference play. WJU won the WVIAC Tournament all four years of her career and captured the WVIAC regular season championship in 2000, 2002 and 2003. WJU made three NCAA Tournament appearances during her career.

As a Cardinals player, she appeared in 474 matches for the team recording 1,005 kills (2.12 per set average), 101 aces (0.21) and 481 blocks (1.02) during her playing days. She was also a member of the North Idaho Volleyball Club, where she played for legendary coaches Art and Mary Jo Lambert.

She married her husband Jehkiah on November 27, 2010.
