Coach Al Arrington

2011-2012 Team: 14 Black

Background
Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, Coach Al Arrington was first introduced to the game of volleyball his freshman year in high school. After several years of high school and club training, he helped his team win the Virginia 3A State Championship his Junior year. He eventually attended the University of Virginia, where he continued playing volleyball on the club team. Al was the president of the club his Senior year and therefore responsible for practices and tournaments during that time. Upon graduation, he took a job with Accenture, an IT consulting firm in Charlotte. He soon found LNVB and was eager to begin coaching.

Philosophy
Al's playing experience directly influences his coaching. He teaches aggressive serving and attacking and tries to instill competitiveness into each player. He also incorporates stategy at a young age so that it can be developed and refined as each player grows older. Most important, however, he wants his athletes to develop a love for game.
